Here we go again. The new phone is coming out. You know the one. It is the model that people actually camp out in front of the stores for so they can get one as soon as they are released. Now I’m not in that much of a hurry to get one that I would sleep on a sidewalk. I just preorder one. Still, that leaves me in need of knowing how to jailbreak iOS 8 as soon as it comes out. I cannot stand a cell phone, especially a smartphone, that is tied to a specific carrier with all of that junk software they include.
This is probably the biggest problem I have with phone devices nowadays. Every provider out there has a bunch of junk they preload onto the phones. Who thinks up the apps they put on is anybody’s guess, but it seems like they pick the worst junk to put on there just to annoy you. The thing that gets me is that you cannot delete it! You keep getting notices to update those apps even if you don’t use them. Read the rest of this entry »
When I decided to get a new phone, I knew that I was going to probably have to get a new carrier as well. I have always had a contract phone before, and I did not want one this time around. I was tired of always being told how long I have to do something because it really limits my options if something better comes along. Because of that, I wanted to take a look at some Pay As You Go SIM cards, but I really did not know the first thing about them. Read the rest of this entry »
The fact of the matter is that every technology company is in a race with their competition to put out new releases faster and faster. For example, if the iPhone comes out with some new technology that becomes popular, then Samsung must counter this with a new version of their Galaxy phone. In the past the race was not so extreme because phones were much more simple and the difference between them was hard to spot, but the combination of new features and new styles have changed that drastically. If you sell old mobile phones instead of wasting them, then maybe you too can keep up with the newest devices in order to show off for your friends.
Whether you really agree or are just going along with it, cell phones have basically become a part of a person’s fashion and style. Sure it is obviously not an article of clothing, but people now carry their phones almost everywhere they go. If you take your phone out in a public place and people see it is old technology, chances are they will notice and take note just like they would with tacky or worn out clothing.
It is obviously pretty wasteful to upgrade regularly without a plan for your old phone though, since it is not like you can just use both at the same time or anything like that. Most often people are also too lazy to figure out how to recycle the old devices, so they end up sitting in a drawer or box somewhere and collect dust or get in the way. This is basically the definition of useless, which is sad considering how much most of these devices cost at one time. However, now you can prevent this from happening and instead get some cash instead.
The burning question that exists for nearly every single person is, ‘What should I do with my life?’. I think each and every single one of us has gone through a phase where we simply have no idea what we want to do. When we place so much expectation on one another, as a culture and society, with our higher education often defining what we will do in the future, it can be a stressful experience that many of us never grow from. There was a time I wanted DJ gear so I could learn to DJ. There was also a time when I seriously considered Marine Biology, too.
In fact, I can think back now and recall all the fields and subjects which held my interest yet in the end I settled on something as simple as English and Literature instead. Even now I really have no idea as to what I want ‘to do’ with my life – I feel like I only exist. I don’t have any goals or plans or a future that is laid out for me like most of my friends seem to do. Read the rest of this entry »
Of course you can really go over the top if you are not careful, so I am going to start out by looking for the very best cyber monday tv deals in 2014 on very large screen TV sets. I am thinking something over sixty inches in size. I was over at a friend’s house the other day and he had a sweet set up. It made me envy him pretty good. He and his dad had built a big cabinet in the wall and mounted s 55″ Samsung smart TV on the wall above it. They had done a pretty good job on the sound proofing and the design of the sound system. It had one of those 7 speaker surround sound systems and it was quite close to the experience that you get in a real movie theater.
In fact he had networked the entire system to his computer network and so he had a big library of DVD’s and blu rays stored on a couple of those massive external storage devices. I think they call it NAS or something like that. You could not see any of that though. The computer he was using was hidden in the cabinet, although I am not really sure that he was giving it enough air. He said it did not need any because it was designed to not generate the sort of heat that many PC’s do. Of course I have seen some computers that spew out more heat than an electric space heater. They are literally wasting electric power by generating that sort of heat to no effect. At least that does you no good. The newest systems do not even need to be cooled down, because the latest computer chips are a lot more efficient and do not generate much heat.
When I decided to buy a TV, I had to decide if I wanted to get cable or satellite television programming. Up until that point, I had always watched my favorite shows on my computer, but I have recently gotten interested in football. Since there are laws against showing these games in their entirety online, I knew that I needed to get a TV and programming. I went to the cable company’s website as well as http://satellitetelevisionpackages.com so I could compare the two companies. I wanted to see not only about the programming but the prices as well.
The cable company had a promotion for new customers, but it was only valid for six months. In comparison, DirecTV had an offer for new customers that meant my programming would be cheaper for 24 months. I looked at the prices for each company after the promotions would end, and the satellite company was still cheaper. Read the rest of this entry »

The size factor of mobile computing is elusive. There is a goal to find the perfect size of device that will be the crossover point that will serve the needs of those who want phone, tablet and laptop functionality in one device. As processors get more powerful and screen technology gets more advanced, options open up. The next big need to fill is a battery technology that will run bright high definition screens for hours along with a processor running at full tilt while making the batteries even smaller. Just a few years ago the size of the batteries needed to power today’s devices would make them huge by comparison. Power supplies that can be folded into tiny spaces and recharged for many more cycles than previous technology is what makes today’s devices even possible.
Apple has a hit with its iPhone and iPad. Google continues to develop its Android operating system to compete with Apple’s, but has not yet won out in the production of the hardware to run the OS like Apple has. The Kindle Fire proved that there is a huge market for a content consumption device. Read the rest of this entry »
